To the east of downtown Ottawa along the picturesque
Ottawa river lies the suburban enclave of Orleans. Originally its own self-contained city, Orleans was
amalgamated into the larger City of Ottawa over 20 years ago. Today Orleans still retains much of that
independent feeling while offering the advantage of proximity to downtown Ottawa and elsewhere in the National
Capital Region with good road, bus and train connections. Orleans has its own shopping centre, Place
d’Orleans, and as well as a substantial amount of business and recreation infrastructure. Orleans homes
range from townhomes and semi-detached houses to singles and low-rise condos. Buying a home in Orleans
represents a good value as you tend to get more space, amenities and quality for your money here than you would
if living in the central Ottawa core. Orleans has well established neighbourhoods and the laid back, tight-knit

km of hiking and groomed cross country skiing trails.
Other recreation opportunities are found indoors in two inflatable spots domes and outdoors at three rinks and
eleven soccer pitches. Most of the homes were solidly built in the 1960s and 70s in family-friendly layouts.
