Living in Ottawa West - Tunney's Pasture
Doesn’t it sound great to live in a pasture right by the Ottawa River? Pasture now in name only, originally it was a place for Albert Tunney to graze his herd (and his farmhouse at 201 Parkdale is now a sleek new condo). Since the 1950s the hub of this district has been transformed from farmland into a campus built exclusively for federal government buildings. Some of those original buildings have made way for condos to put more people close to their work.
South of Tunney’s is where you will find some of gems of homes for sale in Ottawa West. Tucked next to Island Park Drive are quiet leafy streets with quick access to Highway 417 and Wellington Street, the gateway to downtown. Island Park Drive takes you right across the Ottawa River via the Champlain Bridge. Some of Ottawa’s best golf is at the Royal Ottawa Golf Club at the Gatineau end of the bridge. Walkable, bikeable, and with the Tunney’s Pasture OTrain station at your door, you are perfectly positioned to access the east and west parts of Ottawa, and Island Park will take you south. Wellington Village has all the services you need and the lovely shops, cafes and restos that make this area a strollable delight. Homes in Ottawa West-Tunney’s Pasture go quickly!
